Park Closures - List of Park Construction & Redevelopment Projects
Listing of current and upcoming park closures. All work is weather dependent.
Note: Some areas of the park may be fenced off or restricted by construction access and equipment during weekday daytime hours.
Upper Redhill Park
Starting April 24, 2023
Portion of the park space is closed to accommodate grading and drainage improvements. The majority of the park including the multi use court, sun shelter and play area will be will remain open during this closure.
Corman Park - Basketball Court
August 16, 2023 until further notice
The Basketball Court at 23 Teak St is closed until further notice due to health and safety concerns. There is no current ETA for the resolution of this closure.
Pier 4 Park - Tugboat Play Structure
October 2, 2023 to 2024
Tugboat “junior” (18 months to 5 yrs) playground is closed to undertake structural assessments to inform the design for improvements to the tugboat, new playground and new spray pad planned to be constructed in 2024.
The “senior” (5 to 12 years) playground and the spray pad will remain open to the public until construction of the new playground begins in 2024.
Eastwood Park - Spray Pad
Beginning October 10, 2023
Spray pad is closed to replace existing spray pad. No public access to the spray pad and maintenance/washroom building during construction.
Scenic Parkette Playground
May 20 to June 2, 2024
Playground demolition, excavation, new playground structures and swings, wood fibre safety surfacing, and new asphalt access pathways. No public access to the playground. Other parts of the park are open and accessible.
Riverdale East Park - Playground
May 30 to June 28, 2024
Playground demolition, excavation, new playground structures and swings and wood fibre safety surfacing. No public access to playground. Other parts of the park are open and accessible.
Sam Mason Park - Walkways & Spray Pad
May 31 to June 5, 2024
Walkway demolition, excavation, and new asphalt paving of the walkways around the building, spray pad, and Bocce Club building. No public access to the spray pad or the buildings (including the washrooms) will be permitted during the daytime active construction. Other parts of the park including the parking lots, playground, and soccer fields are open and accessible.
Mountain Drive Park - Play Structure
Summer 2024 to Spring 2025
As part of the Mountain Drive Park renewal, soil tests have revealed that some of the park’s soils exceed the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks soil standards for parkland. Out of an abundance of caution, the area of the park where impacted soils are currently known has been fenced off to prevent public access. No public access to the play structure until the redevelopment is completed.
