A great variety of shots
The City of Hamilton is pleased to offer a championship level 18-hole disc golf course at King’s Forest Golf Course, designed by Chris Ozolins of the Ontario Disc Sports Association, open to the public on December 1, 2023 until March 17, 2024.
Disc Golf is a flying disc sport usually played on a course with 9 or 18 holes. Players complete a hole by throwing a disc from a tee pad or a designated area toward a target (basket), then throwing again from where the previous throw landed, until the basket is reached. The number of throws a player uses to reach each basket is tallied (as par). The goal is to have the lowest number of throws to complete each hole.
Equipment Lending
An equipment lending program is available onsite based on available equipment for anyone looking to try Disc Golf. Participants, specifically beginners and juniors, will be able to borrow equipment, free of charge, so that they can join in play and have fun. Discs are also available for sale onsite.

Safety First
Never throw when other players or people are within range. Always give non-players the right of way. Be aware of your surroundings and environment.
Tee Throws
Each hole begins with a tee throw. Tee throws must be completed within or behind the designated tee area.
Throwing Order
The player with the least number of strokes on the previous hole is the first to tee off on the next hole. After teeing off, the player whose disc is farthest from the hole always throws first.
Fairway Throws
Fairway throws must be made from directly behind the lie (the place on the playing surface upon which the player takes a stance in order to throw). A run-up and normal follow-through, after release, is allowed, unless the lie is within 10 metres of the target. Any shot within 10 metres of the target mean that the player cannot move past the lie until the disc is at rest (i.e. stops moving/lands).
Mandatory
A mandatory is one or more designated trees or poles in the fairway that must be passed as indicated by arrows.
Unplayable Lie
Any disc that comes to rest above the ground is considered an unplayable lie. The disc must be thrown from the lie on the ground, directly underneath the unplayable lie, relocated to avoid damage to the vegetation.
Out of Bounds (O.B.)
If any area of O.B. is visible between the disc and O.B. line, then the disc is considered O.B. A throw that lands out of bounds, must be played from a point 1 metre in bounds from where the disc went out of bounds. Permanent water hazards and public roads are always out of bounds.
Completion of Hole
A disc that comes to rest in the basket or chains constitutes successful completion of that hole.
