37th Annual Re-enactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek June 2 & 3
Hamilton, ON - The 37th annual Re-enactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek returns to Battlefield House Museum & Park National Historic Site on Saturday, June 2 from 10 am to 10 pm and Sunday, June 3 from 10 am to 4:30 pm. Admission is FREE in honour of Sara Calder, founder of Battlefield House Museum.
The Battle of Stoney Creek, considered a turning point in the War of 1812, will be re-enacted Saturday at 3:30 pm and 8:30 pm and on Sunday at 2 pm Weather permitting, fireworks will follow the Saturday evening re-enactment.
This popular and long-running Hamilton event was recently named a Top 100 Event by Festivals and Events Ontario for the 14th consecutive year. In commemoration of the 205th anniversary of the Battle of Stoney Creek, on Friday, June 1, re-enactors will be re-creating the march from Burlington Heights (Dundurn National Historic Site) to Stoney Creek, beginning at 11:30 am.
In addition to witnessing the re-enactment, visitors can wander the encampments, interact with early 19th century settlers and soldiers, climb the stairs up to the 100-foot-tall Battlefield Monument, take a guided tour of the Gage family home, experience historical cooking, dancing and blacksmithing demonstrations and try their hand at period games. One-of-a-kind wares will also be sold by historic merchants, and food and refreshments will be available for sale by the Kiwanis Club and Bench Brewery.
Live entertainment will include music by Stephen Fuller and The Drums, Crown Forces 1812 and period dancing demonstrations by the Fort York Dancers. Experience a performance by 18th Century Conjurer Rodney the Younger, and attend presentations on Regency Beauty Practices and Historical Hairdressing.
Parking and Transportation
There is no on-site parking for the event. Free parking is available at St. David School on Centennial Parkway. A free, accessible shuttle bus service will transport the public from the school to Battlefield House Museum & Park. Please note that dogs are not permitted on the grounds during the event.

The Georgian-style homestead is the site where the Gage family was held in the cellar as the Battle of Stoney Creek raged outside.
