Assessment

Land Registry
To update the ownership information on title at the Land registry Office, consult with your lawyer.
Purchase of new property
If you purchase a property, you must wait until your closing date to update the property information. You must have a copy of the Land Transfer Deed to update the ownership information. Your lawyer should send this directly by:

Keep a copy of the Land Transfer Deed for your records.
Effective January 1, 2024 the Ownership Change Fee is $16.85. This fee is added to your property tax bill.
If you want to pay your own taxes, you need to notify your mortgage company. They will send written notification to the City stating that they are no longer responsible for paying taxes on that property.
