Highbury Meadows Park Development
Review the park development concepts and survey results from feedback provided between April 8 to May 17, 2024.
Highbury Meadows Park is a new 1.7 hectare (4.2 acre) neighbourhood park located directly north of Saltfleet High School at 110 Picardy Drive, Stoney Creek (ward 9). The park fronts on Picardy Drive to the east, residential properties to the north and west, and the high school to the south. A walkway block is also located in the northwest corner of the site, which will be connected to the park walkway system.
A new neighbourhood park will be developed at this site. As part of the planning process, the City will engage with local residents to shape the vision of this space. The project scope will include:
- 3m wide asphalt walkways
- Sun shelter
- Multi-use court
- Drinking fountain
- Benches
- Naturalization area
- Tree plantings
During the consultation period, residents will have the opportunity to choose one of 2 park concept plans, pick the preferred shade structure, as well as have input on the theme and elements of the playground.
Accessibility
Accessible design is about designating spaces for people of all abilities. Accessible design of outdoor spaces is regulated by the Accessibility Standard for the Design of Public Spaces, which is part of Ontario Regulation 191/11 under the Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).
The Highbury Meadows Park Project will incorporate universal accessibility in proposed amenities wherever feasible and possible, in accordance with the AODA.
