CLOSURE NOTICE:
Provincial Offences Administration Office located on 50 Main St E, Hamilton will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2024. Regular business hours will resume on November 12, 2024. Customers can make a traffic ticket payment online at www.paytickets.ca or find the status of their cases online at www.ontario.ca/ticketsandfines. You will require the location code of 4760 and offence number printed on your ticket.
Hamilton Provincial Offences are conducting court proceedings in-person and virtually.
Trial Matters - You can appear in person or virtually by video only.
Early Resolution Meetings - You have the option to appear by audio, video, or in person.
Guilty Pleas - You have the option to appear in person or virtually.
If you appear virtually it is recommended that you appear by video. Please review the ‘Virtual Court Proceedings’ section below for virtual appearance information.
Residents are encouraged to pay fines online or by phone. Please note that it may take 10 or more days after you are given an Offence Notice or ticket for your case to appear in the system to accept payment online or by phone.
For online payments see below. To pay by phone call 905-540-5592. Payments can be made in person by cash, debit, credit, cheque or money order.
The filing of court documents, such as requests for an extension of time to pay, requests for re-opening, requests to schedule an early resolution meeting, or requests to schedule a trial can be done in person or online. For the online option, documents can be found below.

You have three different options for resolving an Offence Notice
- Option 1 - Plea of guilty and pay your offence notice
- Option 2 - Early Resolution: Meet with the Prosecutor
- Option 3 - Trial Option
A number of services and forms can be accessed online, by mail, or over the phone. Please do not come to the courthouse unless you are required to. For more information, please click on the specific section tabs below.

Please note that it may take 10 or more days after you are given an Offence Notice or ticket for your case to appear in the system to accept payment online or by phone. You can pay your offence notice in one of 3 ways:
Online
- There is a $3 non-refundable convenience fee added to online payments.
- It takes up to three business days to process your payment and update the court records.
- It can take up to five business days to update the Ministry of Transportation records.

- You must include or bring your offence notice, notice of fine and due date or the ticket number with your payment.

You can request an early resolution to meet with the prosecutor and discuss the charge either online, by email or in person.
Online
Depending on your case, you may be able to request a meeting online to discuss your ticket with a prosecutor before going to trial.

- Include all information, including your email address and phone number

You will be sent a notice in the mail regarding the date, time and location of your early resolution meeting.
Complete the Replacement of Missing Offence Notice and email it to [email protected].

- Check off the Request for Meeting box on the back of the offence notice.
- Record any change in your address information at the bottom on the back of the offence notice.
- If you require an interpreter for your meeting, indicate the language required on the back of the offence notice.

If you fail to attend the Early Resolution meeting, the court may enter a conviction in your absence.

Virtual Court Decorum for Participants and Observers
All Participants and Observers must conduct themselves for remote hearings as if they were physically in the courtroom. Please Review the following Remote Court Appearance Guides.
You can check the status of all tickets or fines, issued under the Provincial Offences Act.
You cannot check the status of tickets or fines for:
- criminal matters
- parking tickets
- cases under appeal
- cases with publication bans
- charges involving anyone under 16 years of age
If you wish to file an appeal or make a Charter application, you will need three copies of the transcript of the court proceedings.

If your matter is lengthy, you will be contacted by a court reporter regarding a larger deposit before production of your transcript begins.

You will be contacted when the transcript is complete and ready for pick up. Information will also be provided regarding any balance or refund that may be owed. Please pick up the transcript and finalize your account in person or as otherwise arranged with the court reporter who contacts you.
Note: Full payment is required for all outstanding invoices after a transcript order has been completed even if, for any reason, the transcript is no longer required. Cancellation of orders must be provided in writing by fax, email, or in person. A full refund will be provided if the order has not been processed. You will be responsible for any amount owing for partial production at the time of cancellation, if production has already begun.
