Mountain Climber Program
Free rides up and down the escarpment for cyclists on HSR buses year-round. Look for the Mountain Climber signs at bus stops at the top and bottom of the escarpment accesses.
HSR has installed bikes racks on the entire HSR bus fleet.
The Mountain Climber program allows cyclists to take an HSR bus up or down the escarpment for free. Mountain Climber stops are marked with unique signage.
How the Program Works
To use Mountain Climber, wait for an HSR bus at one of the marked stops. When the bus arrives, secure your bike to the front bike rack on the bus. Let the operator know you’re riding for free as a Mountain Climber. Exit the bus and remove your bike from the rack at the first available stop once up or down the escarpment roadway. If you decide to ride to a farther stop, you must pay a full fare to the operator at this point.
If there are no bike rack spaces available, you will have to wait for the next bus. If there are customers waiting at the stop with a bicycle who are going to pay full fare, they must be allowed to load and board the bus first.
Parents of young cyclists are responsible for providing adult supervision at all points along the journey in using our Mountain Climber program. This includes loading bicycles on racks, and unloading bicycles upon arrival at their destination.
