The City has been offering school tours and presentations to Hamilton teachers for over 15 years.
Virtual Classroom (NEW)
Do your students have what it takes to become a Super Recycler? This interactive program takes students on a journey through Hamilton’s waste system, where they will learn about the waste they produce, what happens to it, and how positive waste choices and actions help protect our environment. To participate, you will need access to the internet, speakers or headphones and a smart screen, computer or tablet.
- Duration: Filled with activities, videos and quizzes, this program takes approximately 3 hours to complete.
- Audience: Grade 1-5
The Perfect Grade 5 Fieldtrip
Similar to the Virtual Classroom, this in-person interactive program takes students on a journey through Hamilton’s waste system from inside the Central Composting Facility. During this fieldtrip, students can see inside the composting facility, simulate green bin collection and test their sorting skills with interactive activities. Round-trip transportation is provided at no charge to Hamilton schools.
- Duration: This field trip is approximately a 3-hour commitment.
- Audience: Grade 5
