Carter Park is a neighbourhood park located at 32 Stinson Street in Ward 2. It is 0.6 ha in size and is bounded by Stinson Street to the north, Claremont Access to the east, Young Street to the south and West Avenue South to the west. The park contains a spray pad, playground, swings, basketball court, walkways, seating, sun shelter, decorative features, fencing, maintenance building, community gardens and community-run seasonal ice rink. There are several mature trees throughout the park.
In 2014 Carter Park underwent a renovation including new asphalt pathways, lighting, park sign, benches, a drinking fountain, garbage cans, games tables, a basketball court, a sun shelter, stone entry columns, fencing, and trees. Additionally, in 2016, a mural was added to the park along the eastern side of the basketball court.
The spray pad, playground, and swings are now at the end of their lifecycle and will be replaced. This is an opportunity for the community to provide input that will inform the selection and layout of replacement features.
