NOTICE: The Found Pets page will not be updated from December 25, 2024 to January 2, 2025. Please contact the shelter directly at (905) 574-3433 if you suspect your pet may be at Animal Services.
The City of Hamilton Animal Services holds found animals for 5 days (including the date they arrive in the shelter). These animals have been checked for identification (microchip, tag, tattoo, etc.). If they have identification, staff have tried to contact the pet owners.
Do you recognize your pet on this page? You may:
- Visit the shelter at 247 Dartnall Road, Hamilton ON L8W 3V9 during visiting hours of:
- Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- Saturday & Sunday 10 am to 2 pm (Closed on Holidays)
We currently have limited availability to trace licenses. If your pet is lost and is wearing a City of Hamilton Dog Tag, please visit the shelter to see if your pet is in our care.
To claim your pet from the shelter, you will need to:
- Bring Identification with your name and current address on it
- Be prepared to pay the impound fees and boarding fees
- Be prepared to pay any Veterinarian bills if it was seen by a Vet (at cost)
- Pay for a dog licence if your dog does not already have a current licence
- Bring a leash or carrier to take your pet home
