Contact your landlord or property owner in writing if you are concerned about a by-law violation for the place you rent. List the problems and by-law violations in your letter to the landlord and allow a reasonable amount of time for the problems to be fixed.
If the property owner does not fix the problem in a reasonable amount of time, you can file a complaint with the City. Municipal Law Enforcement staff may investigate to determine if there is a violation. Give staff a copy of your dated letter or documentation proving you contacted the property owner about the problems.
