Description of Proposal
Application Status: The City of Hamilton received the applications on August 17, 2020 and deemed complete on September 15, 2020. Appealed by the applicant to the Ontario Land Tribunal for Lack of Decision on June 27, 2024. Visit OLT-24-000748 for the status of the appeal.
Update: In late December 2024, the Upper West Side Landowners Group submitted a request to Mayor Horwath requesting the City's support of a proposed Minister's Zoning Order request to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The requested Minister's Zoning Order would constitute both an urban boundary expansion of approximately 90 hectares into the Twenty Road West lands as well as the conversion of approximately 99 hectares of employment land within the Airport Employment Growth District Secondary Plan to residential and other uses.
Hamilton's Planning Committee will be considering the request on February 4, 2025 through Report PED25046. Staff are not supportive of the request. If the request is submitted by the proponent to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Province’s Minister’s Zoning Order framework states that it must first be posted on the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) website for public comment.
