The Hamilton Parks Master Plan will guide the long-term planning of new parks and the expansion and improved access to existing parks across the city.

Cemetery Projects

The City of Hamilton continually expands the park and recreation system to meet future population growth. Ongoing new park projects:

Brightside Park

Formerly known as Stadium Precinct Park, this new park will be located on lands north of Lloyd Street and west of Gage Avenue in Ward 3. Currently in the design phase.

Clear Skies Park

A 2.7 acre neighbourhood park located at 45 Gunby Blvd in Waterdown, Ward 15. A future expansion on the lands to the North East is also planned.

The Nest Gathering Space

The Nest will be one of four gathering spaces along the along the Red Hill Valley Trail (RHVT) and is located within the northeast quadrant of Rosedale Park in Ward 4. Currently in design phase.

The City of Hamilton is currently working to improve these parks and recreation areas:

Albion Falls South Access & Viewing Platform

An access and viewing platform that is safe and improves views to Albion Falls while balancing the need to protect the site’s natural and cultural heritage.

Alexander Park Skatepark

An ideal centralized location for a skatepark for residents from Dundas and West Hamilton.

Beasley Park

A well-used park with aged infrastructure that requires redevelopment, including the existing skate park area.

Centennial Heights Park

Staff are working to implement a new loop pathway project in the park.

Central Park

An existing part identified for redevelopment in the West Harbour area.

Churchill Park

Phase 2 of park redevelopment construction includes walkway improvements, sport field drainage and regrading.

Confederation Beach Park

Phase 2 construction is underway and includes new fieldhouse, maintenance building, naturalized playground, parking and internal pathways.

Gage Park

The walkway improvement project is currently underway.

Gatesbury Park

Planning walkway and accessibility improvements through the park.

Gore Park

Redevelopment is part of the Gore Pedestrianization Initiative including relocating buses, Memorial Wall & Enclaves, refurbished Cenotaph.

Gourley Park

The Gourley Park redevelopment project will involve a full replacement of park amenities.

Hamilton Amateur Athletic Association Grounds

The Renewal Plan sets out the overall plan of the park in a phased approach in coming years.

Heritage Green Sports Park

Park includes wheelchair accessible swing letting kids of all abilities play together and experience the thrill of swinging.

Inch Park

An inclusive play space is planned for the north-west corner of Inch Park. This space is envisioned to be a “park within a park”.

Mountain Drive Park

Completed Master Plan that establishes a vision for future park improvements, identifies a budget and timeline for implementation.

Pier 4 Park

The spray pad, tugboat play structure & other playground equipment are nearing the end of their lifecycle and need to be replaced.

Roxborough Park

Response to the growing community and change of usership needs, the amenities at Roxborough Park are being revitalized and new amenities will be added.

Sam Lawrence Park

Many existing features are in decline. Re-examining park's existing uses and re-imagine future uses for this prominent city-wide park.

Southam Park

Identified to be in need of upgrades. Park is currently under-utilized space, opportunity to examine existing and future uses.

Valley Community Centre Park

Many of the park’s amenities are nearing the end of their life cycle and the City is creating a Master Plan to rejuvenate the park.

Valley Skate Park

A skate park is proposed to be a wheeled sport facility located within Valley Park.

Victoria Park

The existing spray pad is nearing end of life and a sun shelter will be par of this rejuvenation work.

Woodlands Park

Adding a spray pad, sun shelter, seating and associated works.

The City of Hamilton is currently working on these trail projects:

Mountainbrow Trail

To redevelop an existing route that runs between Sanatorium Road & Scenic Drive along the Mountain Brow in Ward 14.

East Mountain Trail Loop

A 10 km trail loop in the Red Hill Valley along the Niagara Escarpment, Conservation Areas and Eramosa Karst lands across Wards 4, 5, 6 &9.

Pipeline Trail from Brampton Ave to Grace Ave

To redevelop an existing footpath from Brampton Avenue to Grace Avenue into a multi-use trail for community use.

The City of Hamilton is currently working on creation of these cemeteries:

Parkside Cemetery

Located at 31 Parkside Avenue, immediately west of the Dundas Driving Park. The site was formerly occupied by Parkside Secondary School until the City purchased the land for cemetery-use due to the identified need in Dundas.
