Coordinated Street Furniture Guidelines
The City of Hamilton's Coordinated Street Furniture Guidelines create a street furniture framework that acknowledges unique City streets, achieves accessibility for all citizens and provides guidance for cohesive and coordinated street furniture placement throughout the City of Hamilton.
These guidelines will be used by city staff and contracted street furniture providers. They are a reference tool for planning of new public spaces, but more critical in determining placement within existing pedestrian areas where a finite amount of space exists to reduce conflict between multiple street furniture elements.
The key objectives of these guidelines:
- Provide guidance to city staff for the establishment of a cohesive, accessible, safe, functional and expandable system of street furniture elements in the City of Hamilton
- Encourage context-specific solutions, flexibility and innovation to respond to site specific conditions and design requirements
- Improve the image and identity of the City’s streetscape
- Provide guidance for incorporating controlled advertising on Hamilton`s street furniture.
