Fare Assist Program

Fare Assist offers Hamilton residents who are recipients of Ontario Works, the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or have household incomes below the Low Income Measure, a 30% discount on current single-ride PRESTO fares for themselves and their family.

The HSRnow mobile app allows you to plan your trips and find real-time next bus updates for your stop.

You can use the app to:

plan your trips from A-to-B;
get real-time next bus information for close-by stops;
sign up to receive stop and route notifications, and text or email alerts.

HSR System Map

The map includes all routes, destinations and major landmarks in the City. You can also find local Trans-Cab zones in Glanbrook and Stoney Creek.

@HSRnow automated X account

Follow @HSRnow, where automated service alerts are tweeted as they happen, 24/7. Occasionally, a bus may need to be taken out of service due to a mechanical, operator or passenger issue. When this happens, a post will be published from our control room.

The post will show the route number, TO and FROM information, including times. Each post represents one bus for one of its trips.

Text messaging (SMS)

You can text us to receive the departure time of the next three buses at your stop. Text HSRnow and the stop number (ex. HSRnow 1234) to 25370. Standard message rates may apply. Responses are typically received within a minute of sending the text. If you have texted STOP for a reoccurring alert, you will no longer receive text messages from us. To undo this, text START to 25370.

You can call 905-527-4441 (Bus Check) to find the next bus for your stop number or to speak with a representative to help you plan your trip. Representatives can provide information about fares, detours, lost & found, and other customer service needs.

You can use bus check to get information about:

Bus schedules
Fares and passes
Detours and special events
Speak with an Information Clerk

Press 1 for bus schedule information
Press 2 for fares and passes
Press 3 for detours and special events
Press 0 for customer service

Bus schedule information

Use this option to find out current bus times, times for later that day or times for another day. You need your 4 digit bus stop number to use this option. Bus stop numbers are found at the bus stop location, in the timetables, on Trip Planner or by speaking to an Information Clerk.

Fares and passes

Use this option to hear a pre-recorded message about bus fares or visit the fares section

Detours and special events

Use this option to hear pre-recorded messages about detours, special events and other news or visit the detours and service updates section.

Customer service

Call customer service if you need to ask a specific question or report a lost or found item. Information Clerks are available daily between 8 am to 8 pm. They can answer questions about bus stop locations, detours or HSR policies, help you plan a trip or even locate your closest HSR Ticket and Pass vendor.

At Frank A Cooke Transit Terminal, LED panels on platforms and digital screens inside the terminal will display next bus information for all routes passing through the terminal.
