February is Winter Commute Month
Log your trips on the Smart Commute app throughout February for a chance to WIN a $100 gift card! Join our events to learn more about commuting in the winter & celebrate winter cycling.
Winter Commute Month is an annual, month-long campaign that encourages people to explore their sustainable winter commute options to reduce the number of single-occupant vehicles using the road network.
Smart Commute Hamilton hosts several successful events every year.
Bike Day/Bike Month
Bike Day is an annual kick-off event to Bike Month and is aimed at promoting cycling as a viable option for all types of travel. Bike Day and Bike Month are celebrated across the GTHA in June. You can find bike events throughout the year on our Cycling Calendar.
Smart Commute Month
Every September, the City of Hamilton celebrates Smart Commute Month. Throughout the month, there are contests and prizes to encourage sustainable transportation options. There is also a questionnaire to help us better understand how people are currently moving in Hamilton. To participate, register for the Smart Commute Tool and start logging your trips today!
Community in Motion Awards
The Community in Motion Awards recognize members of the community who have made an effort to actively support and promote the use of healthy and sustainable forms of transportation. There are 4 reward categories that are given to an individuals or organization that fosters a culture of active transportation within the city:
- Organization of the year
- School of the year
- Advocate of the year
- Smart Commute Employer of the Year
