Attachment is the bond between you and your child. You can strengthen your attachment by responding to your child’s needs. It is especially important to respond when your child is sad, sick, scared or hurt.
As your child grows, you can continue to build your relationship. You can do this by spending time together, giving your child attention, showing your child love, and continuing to respond to their needs.
Importance of Relationships
Safe, stable, and loving relationships help your child:
- feel safe to learn and explore
- feel loved and cared for
- learn how to get along with others, have healthy relationships and manage their emotions
- find healthy ways to cope with challenges
