Foster Home and Group Home Inspections

Upon request, the Hamilton Fire Department will conduct paid inspections of foster homes and group homes.

Important Information:

• If you request an inspection and you are not the property owner, you will need to provide a written letter signed by the owner to Fire Prevention. If you need to submit written authorization it can be emailed to [email protected].

• The online request system will only process one request at a time. If you have multiple requests, you may prefer to contact Fire Prevention to process your request and payment via phone.

Foster Care Home Inspection – capacity of less than or equal to 4
Fee $93.60 (including HST) Effective January 1, 2025
Fees include the cost of a final compliance letter.
Description: Fire Prevention inspection of a foster home with 4 or less occupants residing at the location.

Group Home Inspection – capacity of less than or equal to 4
Fee $212.65 (including HST) Effective January 1, 2025
Fees include the cost of a final compliance letter.
Description: Fire Prevention inspection of a group home with 4 or less occupants residing at the location.

Foster Care or Group Home Inspection – capacity of more than 4
Fee $707.65 (including HST) Effective January 1, 2025
Fees include the cost of a final compliance letter.
Description: Fire Prevention inspection of a group home or foster home with 5 or more occupants residing at the location.
