The City of Hamilton Heritage Volunteer Service Awards Ceremony is a partnership between the City of Hamilton and the Hamilton-Wentworth Heritage Association.
The City of Hamilton Tourism and Culture Division sponsors and facilitates three heritage awards presented at the event, as well as announcing the results of the Famous Hamiltonian of the Year as voted by Hamiltonians. The nomination forms for these awards are below. If you know promising Grade 11 & 12 students, let them know about the History Student award applications. And if you know of a special Hamiltonian who has spent years studying Hamilton’s heritage and/or communicating it to the public, please nominate them for the T. Melville Bailey Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement.
The presentation ceremony takes place during Volunteer Week at Dundurn Castle Coach House, Saturday, April 20 at 1 pm. All are welcome to attend the ceremony.
- The Susan E. Bennetto History Student Recognition Awards (for grades 11 & 12 students)
Award is for students in grades 11 & 12. Students are to fill out the form themselves, and provide contact information for those who support their nomination (teachers, department heads, school administrators, museum/heritage sector workers.) - The History Student of the Year Award (selected from among Bennetto recipients)
Winner and two runners-up are selected from among Bennetto Award nominees. - The Reverend T. Melville Bailey Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement
Given annually, when warranted, for significant, long-term contributions to the study, communication and appreciation of Hamilton’s history and heritage. Nominations are accepted from any member of the public, heritage groups, academics.
