The Hamilton Military Museum
Burlington Heights, where Dundurn Castle stands today, was occupied by the British military from 1813 -1815. Housed in Battery Lodge, the Hamilton Military Museum tells the story of the people who lived in the area during the War of 1812. Blood Ties to a Gentle Landscape showcases the historical figures of this area through documentary evidence, period artifacts, and stories passed down through generations. Battlefield House Museum & Park National Historic Site
The Gage Homestead, built in 1796, captures the way of life during the early 19th century. During the War of 1812, the family fled to the cellar as the Battle of Stoney Creek raged outside. Today, the Battlefield Monument stands as a symbol of peace and commemorates those soldiers who died on June 6, 1813.
