Notebooks on the ready! Business & City partner to plan for the future
HAMILTON, ON - May 23, 2017 - How can a municipal government best plan for the future to support local business? They do this by getting the most up-to-date information from those businesses that they serve. This is why the City of Hamilton’s summer students are ‘hitting the streets’ again with the annual employment business survey.
“It’s important we stay closely connected to our business community. We need to hear from them. This survey allows us to plan better, think better and envision new ideas based on this direct feedback,” says Jason Thorne, General Manager of Planning and Economic Development. “We know our business leaders are very busy. From a ‘Mom and Pop’ shop to a major employer, we know you are taking vital time away from your business to talk to us. We sincerely appreciate your time.”
What does this feedback and data result in?
The survey helps the City of Hamilton in planning for future facilities, initiatives and planning issues across the city. It’s vital that the City has current information in order to address immediate and long term planning development and issues. The City carries out the survey annually in order to look for business growth, trends and changes. It helps the City to monitor the extent, nature and location of employment and land use and changing economic conditions as well as, track the effectiveness of local employment initiatives.
No time to take the survey at your business location?
That’s ok. We understand. Go online and take the survey at your convenience.
The information collected, directly from employers, is treated strictly as confidential. Survey information will only be released to show general employment patterns and trends without revealing information on individual businesses.
“The survey program is another touch point for staff to gather important feedback from business owners across many sectors in the City. It supports our efforts to take input directly from businesses and turn this into actionable plans to improve the way we build Hamilton." - Fred Eisenberger, Mayor, City of Hamilton
