Beginning April 1, 2026, the City of Hamilton is transitioning water, wastewater and stormwater utility billing from Alectra Utilities, enabling the Hamilton Utilities Billing (HUB) team to manage water meter reading, billing and customer service. This change reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to improve efficiency, make services more transparent and easier to access, while allowing Alectra Utilities to focus on electricity delivery.
Over the coming months, water, wastewater and stormwater customers currently with Alectra, will receive more detailed information to help guide them through the transition. This will include updates on when to expect their next bill, the different options available for making payments, and how to sign up for convenient paperless billing. Customers will also receive step-by-step instructions and resources to ensure they have everything they need for a smooth and seamless experience during this change.
Note: Customers who receive their electricity billing from Alectra will continue to do so after April 2026. Account numbers and payment methods will remain the same.

Pre-Authorized Payments & Going Paperless
Customers currently enrolled in pre-authorized bill payments with Alectra, will need to re-enrol with Hamilton Utilities Billing before the transition in April 2026. If you would like to continue this convenient bill payment method, please do so before March 1, 2026, to allow sufficient processing time.
Existing pre-authorized debit arrangements with Alectra will not transfer automatically.
If you do not re-enrol in pre-authorized debits before March 1, 2026, your water bills will no longer be withdrawn automatically from your bank account. Instead, you will be responsible for paying your bills using one of the other payment options. Failure to pay on time may result in late fees or collection activity.
We encourage you to re-enrol as soon as possible to avoid any disruption to your payments.
If you are currently not enrolled in pre-authorized payments with Alectra, but would like to sign-up before receiving your first Hamilton Utilities Billing bill in April 2026, you can do so by following the instructions below:
