Tourism Hamilton wins a 2018 EDCO Award of Excellence
HAMILTON, ON – Tourism Hamilton was honoured with an Award of Excellence for the 2018 Canadian Country Music Awards, Host City Initiatives at the Presidents Dinner and Awards Ceremony of the 62nd EDCO Conference and Showcase in Toronto on January 31.
The award submission included “Country Crawl” featuring Hamilton Country music artists in venues across the city and the “Gore Park Country Round-Up” – a free country concert in partnership with Hamilton Food Share.

- The award was submitted in the Promotion – Special Event category for a population of over 250,000
- Promotional Awards are judged on their effectiveness of the promotion, innovation, creativity, quality and completeness of information and contribution to the economic development profession.
- A panel of professionals from the fields of economic development, marketing advertising and tourism judged the entries.
- Hosting major music award events supports Hamilton’s Music Strategy in strengthening the local music industry and growing audiences and their appreciation of, and access to, music experiences.
- Tourism Hamilton hosted Canadian Country Music Week, September 6 -9, which generated more than 10.5 thousand ticket sales and generated an estimated $5.3 million in economic impact for the city, including 1,725 hotel room nights.
