Bus News Winter 2026
Starting Sunday, December 28, 2025, we’re making small schedule changes on several routes to make sure you get where you need to go, on time. These changes will make a real difference for communities across Hamilton.

Bus Stop Changes
Effective Sunday, December 28, these bus stop changes will be in effect. Watch for signs posted at the affected stops.
Route 4 Bayfront
Route now travels York St. to James St. N instead of traveling down Murray St. to head Northbound.
Route 8 York
Changes to the stops along York St.
Route 44 Rymal
The 44 Rymal we be using Platform 5 at the Confederation GO station.
Stoney Creek Industrial
This is an a.m. / p.m. service to support the Stoney Creek Industrial area.

Due to construction under the train tracks on Barton at Belmont Ave, Route 2 Barton buses will be on detour in both directions.

Route 3 - Cannon
- Eastbound - From Wilson Street and Wentworth Street, Right on Wentworth Street, Left on Main Street, Left on Sherman Avenue, Right on Cannon Street and resume regular eastbound routing on Cannon Street east of Sherman Avenue.
- Westbound - No Detour
Due to an event at TD Coliseum, Bay Street between King Street and York Boulevard will be closed Wednesday, February 18 from approximately 7 until Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 12:01 am.
Route 4 Bayfront - Eastbound Detour From Bay St at Main St
Right on Main St, left on James St, resume regular routing north of York Blvd/Cannon St.
Route 7 Locke - Eastbound Detour from Bay St at Main St.
Continue east on Main St, left on John St, left on Rebecca St, left on James St, resume regular routing south of Rebecca St.
Route 8 York - Westbound Detour from Bay St at King St
Left on King St, right on Hess St, left on Cannon St, resume regular routing west of Hess St.
Temporary Stop - Route 4 Bayfront
- James St. at Rebecca St.
Temporary Stops - Route 7 Locke
- Main St. at Bay St.
- Main St. at MacNab St.

A special event will take place along Cannon Street and York Boulevard on Sunday, March 22, 2026. As a result, a rolling lane closure will be in effect.
The Group Dos Romeiros procession will move along the sidewalks and use one westbound lane between Bay Street and Dundurn Street.
Route 8 York will continue to operate; however, minor delays may occur as the procession moves through the area.

Due to road closures for the Burlington Chilly Half Marathon on Lakeshore Road between Maple Avenue and Burloak Drive, Route 11 Parkdale will be on detour.
Detour Details: Route 11 Parkdale – Northbound
From Eastport Drive at Lakeshore Road the bus will,
- Continue north on Eastport Drive
- Keep left onto the North Shore Boulevard exit
- Turn right on North Shore Boulevard
- Continue east to the temporary end of line just east of the Burlington Transit stop in front of Joseph Brant Hospital
Detour Details: Route 11 Parkdale – Southbound
From the temporary end of line on North Shore Boulevard the bus will,
- Continue east on North Shore Boulevard
- Turn right on Lakeshore Road
- Resume regular routing toward Hamilton

Route 18 Waterdown Mountaineer will detour as it travels to and from the Flamborough South Centre, August 31 until further notice.
Northbound to Flamborough South Centre (travelling to Walmart)
- turning right on Dundas Street East
- left on Leavitt Boulevard
- left into Flamborough South Centre
- right on the first internal road
- proceed around Staples, and stop at stop #1879 at Walmart.
Southbound to Aldershot GO (from stop #1879 at Walmart)
- turn left at from the stop
- right on the first internal road
- left on the next internal road
- right on Leavitt Boulevard
- right on Dundas Street East
- left on Clappison Avenue where it will continue regular route.
Transit staff and property manager are working on an access agreement to allow HSR bus travel through the lot.
Due to construction on Upper Ottawa Street between Stonechurch Road and Tunbridge Crescent, Route 22 Upper Ottawa buses will be on detour.

- No detour required.
Outbound to Rymal Rd. & Upper Ottawa
- From Upper Ottawa St. & Stonechurch Rd.
- Right on Stonechurch Rd.
- Left on Tunbridge Crescent
- Right on Upper Ottawa St.
- Resume regular routing

Buses will not travel along San Antonio Drive during school dismissal hours due to limited roadway clearance caused by snowbanks and parked vehicles.
This change helps ensure safe and reliable service during the winter season.
