City honours Hamilton’s seniors at 22nd Annual Gala Event
HAMILTON, ON - June 13, 2017 - Tonight, Hamilton’s seniors were recognized for their outstanding volunteer contributions to the community at the City of Hamilton’s 22nd annual Senior of the Year Awards at Michelangelo’s Events and Conference Centre. Hosted by local media personality Connie Smith, this annual award program celebrates seniors who are 65 and older and contribute their time and talents in service to the community. - With links to Hamilton’s 10-year Strategic Plan and Plan for an Age-Friendly City, this event celebrates the role seniors play in helping Hamilton to be the best place to raise a child and age successfully.
- Since the number of older adults and seniors in Hamilton is expected to double over the next two decades, in 2013, the City of Hamilton partnered with the Hamilton Council on Aging and Seniors Advisory Committee of Council to begin the development of Hamilton’s Plan for an Age-Friendly City.
