Overnight Fire Destroys Home in East Hamilton
HAMILTON, ON - August 30, 2017 - The Hamilton Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 107 Gertrude Street Hamilton in this two storey wood construction home at approximately 11:14 pm last night.
Upon arrival, crews reported heavy smoke and fire conditions at this structure. The alarm was then upgraded to a multiple alarm bringing additional fire crews to the scene. Firefighters worked quickly and were able to effect a successful knockdown and extinguishment of the fire with minor fire damage to a neighbouring building on the eastside of the property.
No injuries were reported and damage is estimated to be $125,000. The Office of the Fire Marshal was contacted for their assistance in determining a cause for the fire.
