Celebrate Pride at the Hamilton Children’s Museum

HAMILTON, ON – The public are invited to celebrate love, family and friendships at the Pride event at the Hamilton Children’s Museum, 1072 Main St. E. (Gage Park). Guests are invited to explore and play together in an inclusive, safe space on Sat. Jun. 22 from 10 am to 3 pm.

This free event includes activities, crafts and special guests throughout the day. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. visitors can create a photo opportunity with the museum photo booth, and enjoy stories with Ladybird Fancypants and her parrot George as they bring fun to reading during Drag Queen Storytime. Between 11am and 3 pm, children are invited to engage with a visual story teller to illustrate what love and family looks like according to them.

Quick facts

• Drag Queen Storytime is exactly as it sounds: drag queens reading stories to children to teach diversity, caring and loving the person they are. It captures the imagination and sense of gender-free play that children effortlessly embody. 
• Pride 2019 marks 50 years since the Stonewall Riots, a six-day uprising that began in New York City after police raided the Stonewall Inn. The riots led to the creation of LGBTQ+ rights groups across America and initiated the launch of Pride marches.
