Soundscapes of Black Canada: A Listening Workshop
Join local artist and Afrosonic researcher Charlie Star for a workshop and listening party exploring HPL’s collection of Black Canadian music
Canada designates February as Black History Month to honour the contributions and legacies of Black Canadians and their communities. While Black communities in Canada are often viewed through a lens shaped by American culture, this month offers an opportunity to highlight the distinct experiences of Black Canadians.
Artist and Afrosonic researcher Charlie Star will be exploring the CD collection at the Hamilton Public Library to uncover the representation of Black Canadian musicians. Join her for an insightful presentation of her findings, a listening party, and to submit formal requests for CDs you would like included in Hamilton Public Library's collection.
