At times the McQuesten family experienced financial hardship leading them to embrace the creative and sustainable art of mending their clothes. Today, mending isn’t just about extending the life of our belongings – it’s a chance to add beautiful, unique embellishments! Your experience begins with a brief and fascinating house tour where you’ll discover some of the family’s tools they used to care for their belongings. Then, the workshop moves to the Stable, where you’ll dive into both historic and modern mending techniques. Learn how to use a darning egg, discover the joy of making your repairs both practical and artistic. Guests are welcome to bring a personal item for mending. All other supplies will be provided.
