WE HBA supports long-term planning to ensure the necessary supply of housing of all types and tenures ranging from low-rise, missing middle, midrise, ADUs and highrise. This includes policies to enable and support an Urban Boundary Expansion to ensure long-range planning and infrastructure is in place to accommodate growth. This also includes policies to enable the intensification of existing neighbourhoods to allow for more housing opportunities (often referred to as missing middle) including ADUs and flexible zoning permissions. This also includes high density housing opportunities downtown, in nodes and corridors and in MTSAs. WE HBA will be involved in a broad range of public policy discussion in support of public policies enabling more housing choices and opportunities.

WE HBA supports the use and adoption of Pay on Demand Surety Bonds including the ability to transfer existing LOCs to a bonding instrument.

WE HBA will be engaged and provide comments, recommendations and advice to the city regarding Green Development Standards. This covers a wide range of issues from green building standards related to the construction and design of the structure itself to green development standards (sometimes referred to as Low Impact Development - LID) that are more related to planning policy on the landscape. WE HBA will provide comments on everything from EV standards, green infrastructure, bird friendly design, construction standards and everything covered under to lens of sustainability, energy and climate resilience as well as climate mitigation and adaptation.
