City of Hamilton receives 2022 open data award
HAMILTON, ON – The City of Hamilton was recently recognized by the Canadian Data Society with the 2022 Open Data for Democracy Award for demonstrating national excellence and leadership in advocating and enhancing open data for the community.
In 2022, the City’s open data program launched dashboards that provide information on housing and homelessness, senior leadership and Council expenses as well as various supports for the 2022 Municipal Election, including a ‘find my polling station’ web app and a Google-enabled voice agent “Ask Hamilton” which were driven by open data sets.
In its commitment to the principles of accessibility, transparency and accountability in government, the City continues to look for opportunities to expand use cases for open data to enhance access to data for residents, community partners, businesses and staff.
