Ongoing discussions for climate action in the Bay Area (Hamilton and Burlington).

The WE HBA supports broad reductions and/or the elimination of minimum parking requirements (in particular in transit corridors). The WE HBA supports the Mayor's task force on economic recovery recommendation regarding cash in lieu of parking policy. The WE HBA supports additional measures to reduce or eliminate mandatory parking requirements.

The WE HBA is strongly supportive of policies that encourage and allow for secondary/additional dwelling units as a means of providing for more affordable market housing and to provide for gentle density within established neighbourhoods. The WE HBA supports expanding gentle density options beyond secondary suites to include laneway suites and a permissive residential zoning framework for all missing middle housing including semis, towns, stacked towns, triplex, quadplexes and low-rise apartments. WE HBA supports 4-storey as-of-right zoning throughout all residential neighbourhoods and 6-storeys on collector and mains streets or within a Major Transit Station Area as-of-right zoning.

The WE HBA is strongly supportive of Hamilton transit infrastructure investments. The WE HBA intends to actively support at the local level and also through advocacy to the provincial and federal governments investment to construct the Hamilton LRT. WE HBA also supports quickly advancing early works, strong connections to the BLAST and GO network and transit oriented development on the transit lines.

The WE HBA intends to be involved, consult and comments on ongoing updates to the City of Hamilton Official Plan to bring it into conformity with the Provincial Policy Statement and the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe. This included work being undertaken as part of Municipal Comprehensive Review to through the GRIDS process and land needs assessment to adopt the Growth Plan Schedule #3 population and employment forecasts to 2051. WE HBA will be providing comments on the Municipal Comprehensive Review / Official Plan Review – Draft Urban Hamilton Official Plan Amendment – Conformity Amendment and Draft Rural Hamilton Official Plan Amendment – Firm Urban Boundary. WE HBA continues to support an Urban Boundary Expansion. We also support missing middle zoning permissions and significant reforms to planning to facilitate much higher levels of intensification.

The WE HBA is strongly supportive of Transit Oriented Communities to support intensification and the objectives of the provincial growth plan. The WE HBA intends to advocacy for planning and transportation policies that support new housing supply through transit oriented communities. Such advocacy will include pre-zoning in the downtown and along transit corridors as well as a more permissive planning framework to allow for more housing options within established neighbourhoods with transit supportive densities.

Proposing a partnership with City Housing Hamilton regarding new affordable housing builds and renovation projects.

Municipal Comprehensive Review / Official Plan Review – Draft Urban Hamilton Official Plan Amendment – Conformity Amendment and Draft Rural Hamilton Official Plan Amendment. The WE HBA intends to comment on and provide recommendations related to the MCR process to conform to the provincial Land Needs Assessment and Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The WE HBA will comment on our support for a boundary expansion as well as support for upzoning the downtown core, LRT and BLAST network including density transition zones. WE HBA also supports a more permissive zoning residential zoning framework to allow missing middle housing typologies.

Looking to have the City of Hamilton address and consider eliminating minimum parking requirements in Hamilton.

To discuss the Work plan and the Procurement for the Hamilton Light Rail Transit

I am lobbying the Mayor of Hamilton about city taxes and real estate and property.. I want to lobby that people in Hamilton should not have unknown people paying someone else's taxes and then gaining access to getting insurance policies with legal insurance on a property they do not own in order to sue people for them having to pay taxes for a tax arrear certificate. If a property has a certificate of ongoing litigation, and the city knows of legal disputes in regards to who owns the property then why would the city of Hamilton put a tax arrears certificate on a property that has a certificate of ongoing litigation on it . How can the city sell a property in tax arrears when they do not know who owns the property. Plus the city would not not know who to be sending the documents of the certificate of tax arrears to.

Why would the city of Hamilton allow people to change the address the taxes are going to and prevent those who are in legal proceeding from knowing that the city of Hamilton registered a tax arrears on a property and this is hidden from the people involved in the certificate of pending litigation.
What is there to protect people from Hamilton from constant civil proceedings that cost tax payers because someone paid for someone taxes without asking permission to do so. and is suing over again and putting liens on elderly people because they paid property tax without getting permission to do so.

Communicating with municipal officials about (i) enhancing economic opportunities for the steel sector, (ii) protecting steel and automotive supply chains, and (iii) promoting environmental sustainability (including through decarbonization initiatives).

Communications with Council and staff regarding the Elements Casino Flamboro

Hopewell Development has lands on the southeast quadrant of Highway 6 and Airport Road in the City of Hamilton under contract to purchase.

These lands are designated for employment/airport supportive uses and zoned accordingly. We are in the midst of the application review process with staff as there is an official plan amendment, minor rezoning to add warehouse uses, and a plan of subdivision. This process was initiated by the current owner of the property and we are stepping into their shoes and taking over the process.

A copy of our conceptual site plan was previously emailed to the Councillor for information. This is the type of development that Hopewell specializes in across Canada and now into three US states supporting distribution, e-commerce, showroom retail, light manufacturing uses, etc.
