Statement by Mayor Fred Eisenberger on the passing of Bill Sears
HAMILTON, ON - It is with sadness we learned of the passing of former Mayor of Stoney Creek and chairman of the Hamilton Wentworth Region, Bill Sears.
In addition to his community service career, Bill established his practice in 1965 followed by William L. Sears And Associates Ltd. in 1995. Bill was named the EIC Engineer of the Year in 1986 and volunteered his time with Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO). Bill proudly served as past president of the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce and former Board Member of GO Transit.
Prior to moving to Ontario, Bill served on a tour with the RCAF and obtained a BSc at the University of New Brunswick.
Bill passed away in his 87th year with his loving wife Judy at his side. He is survived by his four children: Susan, Lewis (Susan), Brenda (Alex) and Cynthia Summers along with his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He served the community of Stoney Creek with enthusiasm and dedication. Hamilton has lost a passionate advocate for our community. The flag at City Hall and Stoney Creek Municipal Centre will be lowered to half-mast today, December 30, 2020.
