2017 Winterfest Program: Call for Community Event Partners
Hamilton, ON – October 20, 2016 – The City of Hamilton invites community groups and organizations to submit their events to be part of the Hamilton Winterfest 2017, which runs from February 4 to 20, 2017.
The City-facilitated program is marking its 39th year of celebrating winter, Hamilton- style. By signing up a winter-themed event to be part of the Hamilton Winterfest program, partners collaborate with the City of Hamilton to gain access to a bigger audience for their events and programs. There is no cost associated with joining Hamilton Winterfest as an event partner.
Past participants have included neighbourhood associations, local galleries, museums, recreation centres, and small businesses.
2016 saw over 60 events taking place in neighbourhoods across the city – from the North End to the West Mountain. The range of events included winter hikes, free curling lessons, knitting drives for the homeless, contemporary art exhibitions, and world music performances – truly highlighting a city that refuses to sleep through the winter.
2017 event partners will be included in the Hamilton Winterfest marketing campaign consisting of press releases, advertisements, a City of Hamilton website listing, posters and social media promotions. Also, a limited number of non-profit groups can apply to receive marketing guidance for their Winterfest events.
Due to print deadlines, potential partners must submit their event by December 1, 2016 to be included in print-based Winterfest materials. Web-based marketing activities are possible after this time.
New for 2017: Kick-Off Opportunities
Participating partners are also invited to engage in public outreach at the Winterfest Kick-Off event that will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
To encourage the development of new programming at the Winterfest Kick-Off, individuals and groups are invited to submit proposals to offer a unique activity at the event. The City will provide modest financial incentives to support this programming.
