Announcing 110 City of Hamilton Arts Awards Nominees for 2019
Hamilton, ON - The City of Hamilton is pleased to announce the 2019 Arts Awards Nominees. One hundred and ten established and emerging Hamilton artists have been nominated in 11 arts categories, celebrating the breadth of exciting arts activity happening in Hamilton today. The 2019 Arts Awards Nominees are listed below and can be found at www.hamilton.ca/artsawards along with the biographies of most of the nominees.
Nominations in categories ranging from Music to Visual Arts to Lifetime Achievement have been evaluated by independent juries comprised of discipline-specific artists and arts professionals. The Shirley M. Elford Artist's Fund at the Hamilton Community Foundation will once again present an Emerging Artist Prize in memory of the late Shirley Elford, a Hamilton artist celebrated for her excellence in glass work and her work giving back to the local arts community and community at large. The prize category changes annually - in 2019, the prize will be awarded in Music.
“We’re honoured to present the Arts Awards and thrilled that the citizens of Hamilton continue to nominate artists for this program, allowing us to recognize them for their excellence and contributions to city life.”
Jason Thorne, General Manager, Planning and Economic Development Department
