Annual Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony taking place at City Hall in 2016
HAMILTON, ON – October 28, 2016 – The City of Hamilton today announced that Hamilton’s official holiday tree lighting will take place at City Hall.
“DECK THE HALL with the 40th Anniversary of the Christmas Tree of Hope” is scheduled to be held on Friday, December 2nd from 5 pm to 9 pm at the City Hall forecourt.
In addition to the lighting of the tree at 6 pm, the event will feature live music, tasty treats, mascots, visits with Santa, and festive lighting at City Hall to celebrate this special anniversary. A temporary ice rink with free skate rentals will be open to the public from December 2nd to December 9th. More details to follow.
The Christmas Tree of Hope event supports the CHML/Y108 Children’s Fund, which has donated more than 5.2 million dollars to over 40 charities supporting children’s causes, programs, and services.
The public is encouraged to support the spirit of the season by dropping off unwrapped toys or cash donations for Operation Santa Claus Toy Drive Fund in the City Hall Forecourt on December 2, 2016. A radio broadcast will encourage donations throughout the day and evening.
The annual Tree Lighting event is presented by the City of Hamilton, in partnership with CHML/Y108/95.3 Fresh Radio and the Downtown Hamilton Business Improvement Area.
