Building owner fined $7,500 along with probation time
HAMILTON, ON – The registered owner of a two-storey building occupied by ten residential rooms located at 26 Thorndale Crescent, Hamilton, was convicted after pleading guilty in Provincial Offences Court on November 19, 2019.
The conviction was in regard to obstructing an Assistant to the Fire Marshal from exercising their duties. In this case the owner received a fine of $7,500 and eighteen months of probation.
To hinder, obstruct or interfere with an Assistant to the Fire Marshal while exercising his or her powers and duties is guilty of an offence under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act Section 28(1)(a).
