Keeping your ride safe, comfortable & inclusive.
We’ve made a few updates to Hamilton’s Transit By-Law to ensure a smoother, safer, and more inclusive experience for everyone. Here’s what you need to know:
- E-Scooters & E-Bikes
A friendly reminder that e-bikes cannot be placed on the bike rack. At the operator’s discretion, foldable e-scooters and e-bikes that closely resemble standard bicycles may be allowed on board, if there is room and they do not block aisles, doors, or accessibility spaces. E-bikes that resemble mopeds or motorcycles are not permitted onboard. - No Smoking, Vaping, or E-Cigarettes
Smoking now includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, pipes, waterpipes, and cannabis, ensuring a more enjoyable and comfortable ride for everyone. - Service Animal & Support Person Updates
We’ve updated the definition of service animals to align with Ontario’s accessibility laws, ensuring they are recognized and welcomed on board. We’ve also clarified the role of support persons for those who require assistance while using transit.
