Celebrate Canada 150 Day Fireworks – Live Accompaniment by Boris Brott Orchestra
HAMILTON, ON April 11, 2017 – The City of Hamilton today announced that the Canada 150 fireworks show taking place on July 1 will be set to an orchestral composition performed live at Bayfront Park by Maestro Boris Brott and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada.
The fireworks will capture the mood of each musical piece in exciting pyrotechnical splendor.
- Quebec composer Maxime Goulet’s award-winning fanfare for the Vancouver Olympics, “Citius, Altius, Fortius” transitioning into Quebec Composer's Claude Champagne “Dance Villageois” (representing the French element in our founding fathers)
- Alexander Brott’s “British Columbia” movement from “From Sea to Sea” will blend into Alberta composer Malcolm Forsyth’s “Atayoskewin” representing First Nations. This is followed by Andre Gagnon’s Petit Concert of Acadian Themes representing east coast music
- Hamilton and area’s Italian and German immigrants are celebrated in an excerpt from the “Saltarello” movement from Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony and the finale from Rossini’s "William Tell”
- The spectacular live performance ends with the final bars of the Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture with cannons and a carillon of bells
The public are invited to Celebrate Canada 150 Day at Bayfront & Pier 4 Parks on Saturday, July 1 from 3 pm to 10 pm for food trucks, family-friendly fun and a dazzling fireworks finale.
“We are delighted to accompany the Celebrate Canada 150 Day fireworks display with a musical pastiche of exciting Canadian orchestral music from coast to coast.” Boris Brott, Artistic Director, Brott Musical Festivals
