City of Hamilton awarded Canadian Tire Jumpstart Community Partner of the Year
HAMILTON, ON - May 17, 2017 - On May 12, 2017 at the 9th annual Canadian Tire Jumpstart Recognition Meeting, the City of Hamilton was one of three community partners to receive the Community Partner of the Year Award.
The Community Partner Award recognizes extraordinary contributions from Jumpstart’s Community Partners - individuals who promoted the partnership within the community, disbursed budget dollars and worked collaboratively with the Canadian Tire Family of Companies.
Each year, the Jumpstart Annual Recognition Meeting highlights achievements and celebrates volunteers and community supporters. Award recipients are recognized in five categories:
- Jumpstart Store Champion
- Lead Award
- Community Partner of the Year
- Vendor’s Award
- Founder’s Award

- Working closely with more than 1,900 Community Partners across Canada, Jumpstart’s success depends on these committed groups to help identify, assist, and disburse funding for families in need.
- Since 2005, the Greater Hamilton Chapter has disbursed more than $1.6 million to assist upwards of 22,000 kids: last year alone, 4,472 kids were helped through the Greater Hamilton Jumpstart Chapter.
- The City of Hamilton has helped create and expand programs to help reach more in-need kids, including:
- The F.O.R.E Golf program, providing at-risk youth with access to resources to learn the fundamentals of golf since 2014.
- The Neighbourhood Hoops basketball program, which helps more than 300 kids across four different city neighbourhoods.
- In addition to the City of Hamilton, the other two community partners to receive the Community Partner of the Year Award were Loisir et Sport Côte Nord and YAAACE (Youth Association for Academics, Athletics, and Character Education).
