City of Hamilton launches first survey about roads and water services
HAMILTON, ON – The City of Hamilton has launched the first two in a series of surveys that will help inform how we plan for the renewal and rehabilitation for key assets in our community. These first surveys are related to roads, bridges and water services, and ask residents to share their feedback to ensure future taxpayer dollars are being spent in alignment with the community’s needs and expectations.
The feedback received will be used to inform the development and execution of the City’s Corporate Asset Management Plan, which is required to meet new provincial legislative requirements.
Residents can complete two brief surveys and drop comments onto a map using the Engage Hamilton platform. Resident feedback is vital to the preparation of the Asset Management Plan, and to ensure the thoughts, opinions and satisfaction levels of the community are thoughtfully considered as the plan, priorities and strategies are developed.
This public engagement opportunity runs until February 18, 2022. Residents can learn more and take the survey in the following ways:
- Online, by visiting: engage.hamilton.ca/roadswaterservices
- Over the phone, by calling 905 546-2424 ext. 2461 (weekdays between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm)
Quick Facts:
- Asset management planning is an ongoing and long-term process that allows municipalities to make the best possible investment decisions for their infrastructure assets. This includes building, operation, maintenance, renewal, replacement and disposal.
- In many parts of Ontario, existing infrastructure is degrading faster than it is being repaired or replaced, putting services at risk. To help address this issue, the Province implemented the Asset Management Planning for Municipal Infrastructure Regulation, O. Reg. 588/17, effective January 1, 2018.
This is an excellent opportunity for residents to contribute feedback about our water and road services in Hamilton. While gathering valuable input, residents will have a say in how the City plans to repair, upgrade and replace our key assets, and help shape our plans, priorities and strategies in managing infrastructure in our community.
