City of Hamilton named one of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top 100 Employers for 2018
HAMILTON, ON – For the third time, the City of Hamilton has been selected as a Hamilton-Niagara Top 100 Employer. The City’s selection for the 2018 list was based on the application and information City staff provided in April to Mediacorp Canada Inc. which oversees the competition.
The City was selected for a number of reasons including retirement planning, a defined benefit pension plan for employees, social events, speaker series for employees, and the availability of wellness activities to encourage employees to make health and wellness a priority.
Now in its 11th year, Hamilton-Niagara’s Top 100 Employers is a special designation that recognizes employers in greater Hamilton and the Niagara region that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Employers were evaluated by the editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the same criteria as the national competition:
- Physical Workplace;
- Work Atmosphere & Social;
- Health, Financial & Family Benefits;
- Vacation & Time Off;
- Employee Communications;
- Performance Management;
- Training & Skills Development; and
- Community Involvement.
Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office in the Hamilton-Niagara area, and employers of any size may apply, whether private or public sector.
The City has applied to the competition three times, and has been successful each time.
"This third consecutive acknowledgment confirms the City of Hamilton values our hard working staff who dedicate themselves to serving the community for all residents. At the same time, we are recognized for a focus on work-life balance and ensuring we provide employees with a positive, supportive and desirable environment." - Mayor Fred Eisenberger
“This is truly an honour to be recognized again as one of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top 100 Employers. In addition to delivering quality programs and services, the City of Hamilton is committed to building a workplace where people are able to do their best and feel valued by their employer.” - Chris Murray, City Manager
