City of Hamilton raises over $21,000 in donations from local organizations for Water for People Canada

HAMILTON, ON – This year, in recognition of the United Nations General Assembly’s World Toilet Day, the City of Hamilton has collaborated with elementary schools in the area to raise awareness about the importance of providing access to basic sanitation facilities worldwide.

Leading up to World Toilet Day, students across Hamilton were invited to take part in educational activities to learn more about global sanitation and wastewater practices related to public health and personal safety. The event also provided a direct link to the City of Hamilton’s own efforts to improve wastewater quality and Hamilton Harbour through Hamilton’s Clean Harbour Program.

Through youth engagement and generous support from donors, over $21,000 was raised for “Water for People – Canada”, a non-profit organization dedicated to water and sanitation initiatives globally.
