City of Hamilton reminding local and visiting Grey Cup fans to follow public health measures
HAMILTON, ON - Today, the City of Hamilton is reminding both Hamiltonians and visiting fans to follow the well-established public health measures this weekend while celebrating the 108th Grey Cup—both at the game and when taking part in related festivities and gatherings this weekend.
Medical and public health experts continue to learn more about the Omicron variant of concern, and modeling shared earlier in the week by the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table and Hamilton Public Health Services’ Scarsin local forecasting show concerning COVID-19 case trends and key health indicators. It is important that Canadian Football League fans stay vigilant and continue following the well-established public health measures.
Although all ticket-holders require proof of COVID-19 vaccination before entering Tim Horton’s Field on Sunday, fans must mask when not eating or drinking a beverage and stay home and watch virtually if they are feeling unwell. When out in the community for Grey Cup-related activities, fans must continue physical distancing, wear a mask, limit close contacts, and get vaccinated if they’re born in 2016 or before. This is critical as we all are spending more time indoors as we enter the winter months and families across the city plan holiday activities.
“This weekend’s 108th Grey Cup is an exciting time for Hamilton and our Hamilton Tiger-Cats faithful. Let’s makes sure all fans have a safe and fun celebration in our community. Canadian Football League fans young and old must stay vigilant and continue following the well-established public health measures. We must continue to work together to protect each other and our loved ones from COVID-19 and the Omicron variant.”
Mayor Fred Eisenberger
