City of Hamilton undertakes cost-containment efforts to address budget pressures
HAMILTON, ON - February 22, 2017 - Today the City of Hamilton undertook cost-containment efforts across the organization to help mitigate a $20M budget pressure. The exercise involved some restructuring of City management and support positions, resulting in the elimination of 23 roles and the repurposing of 5. The outcome will be approximately $3.3 million in permanent savings annually and moves the City towards the target set by Council of 1.8% tax increase in the operating budget.
