City Observing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II National Day of Mourning with a Moment of Silence
The City of Hamilton is observing a moment of silence on Monday, September 19, the National Day of Mourning For Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, in order to pay our respects and reflect upon the life of our Head of State and Sovereign for more than 70 years, the only one most have known in our lifetimes.
The moment of silence will take place at 1:00 pm for 96 seconds to mark Her Majesty's 96 years of age. I encourage everyone in our community who wishes to observe, to pause at this time to mark Her Majesty's life, service, and passing.
The City of Hamilton's book of condolences remains available to sign at City Hall this weekend from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm until the final day on Monday, September 19, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. In addition to City Hall, books of condolences are available to sign at our five Municipal Service Centres during their regular business hours.
All flags at City facilities remain lowered to half-staff, and the Hamilton Signature Sign continues to be illuminated each night in Royal Blue until the day of her Majesty's State Funeral on September 19, in alignment with the Department of Canadian Heritage.
