Design excellence recognized at the City’s Urban Design and Architecture Awards
HAMILTON, ON – The 2021 Urban Design and Architecture Awards were held virtually on Thursday, November 4, 2021, celebrating design excellence in Hamilton over the past two years. The biennial awards program recognizes and celebrates excellence in the design of our urban environment.
Eleven award winners in seven categories were chosen by this year’s Jury:
Awards of Merit:

- Private Buildings – Residential
- Private Buildings – Commercial/Industrial (2)
- Private Buildings – Mixed Use
- Public Buildings
- Open Spaces, Public Spaces and Green Infrastructure
- Visions and Master Plans
- Civic Achievement
- Student Projects – Architecture
Award of Excellence:
- Student Projects – Architecture
Projects presented included adaptive reuse, additions, alterations, new buildings, brownfield redevelopment, master plans, ecological restoration, installations, landscapes, planning studies, public art, streetscapes and student work. Awards were presented to the industry’s best from architects, consultants, contractors, engineers, landscape architects, planners, to owners, urban designers and students.
