Discover Biodiversity at Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum's Newest Exhibit
Hamilton, ON – March 3, 2016 – Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum proudly hosts “Hands-On Nature”, a travelling exhibition from the Royal Ontario Museum, from March 12 through October 22, 2016.
This fascinating display invites visitors of all ages to discover biodiversity. Active learning through observation and experimentation stimulates adults and children to become more aware of their natural surroundings.
Preserving the diversity of life on Earth is not only beneficial, but also essential to humanity. Learn about the different subject areas of biodiversity, such as the broad perspective of habitats, the relationships between species within food webs, and the gene pools of particular species.
Habitat destruction is the most serious threat to biodiversity, but there are others as well. Particular problems in this era of globalization are the trade in endangered species and the introduction of non-native species, which can have devastating consequences. Fortunately, there are people and organizations that strive to preserve or restore native habitats and species, and Hands On Nature encourages participation in these efforts.
