Epi-pen Auto Injectors on Hamilton Fire Department apparatus

HAMILTON, ON – December 19, 2016 – The Hamilton Fire Department is pleased to announce that effective today, Epinephrine Auto Injectors (Epi-pens ,EAI’s) have been distributed to all Hamilton Fire Department front line apparatus.

Hamilton firefighters have been trained to administer epinephrine to patients with a known history of acute allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, or who have a history of having an EAI prescribed by their physician, or who have a suspected history of exposure to a probable allergen and have demonstrated the signs and symptoms of a severe, life threatening reaction.

With the addition of Epi-pens Hamilton firefighters are better prepared to serve the citizens of Hamilton.
