Fire at house causes extensive damages

HAMILTON, ON - September 16, 2017 - Hamilton Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 244 Glennie Ave., Hamilton at approximately 12:43 p.m. this afternoon. Upon arrival firefighters discovered a well involved fire in this one storey detached home with heavy smoke conditions showing.

Firefighters immediately began search and rescue operation which confirmed that there were no occupants inside the home. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after an aggressive interior attack and were successful in preventing the spread of fire to neighbouring homes.

Damage to the home is extensive and has been estimated at approximately $200,000. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted to assist in determining the cause. 

Firefighters have completed operations at this scene and Hamilton Police will remain on the scene pending the arrival of the Investigator from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office.
